Tristan de Inciso

Tristan de Inciso (died 1585) was an explorer of the Spanish Empire.

Biography[]

Tristan de Inciso was born in Seville, Spain, and he decided to join an expedition to the Americas to search for gold and to establish new Spanish settlements in Mexico. In 1585, he founded the colony of San Eduardo de Yucatan in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, building up a small town. However, he was killed while attempting to acquire some treasure hidden in a broken-down house, and his settlement was destroyed by England soon after.
