Trinidad is a residential neighborhood of Washington DC. It got its name from 19th century speculator James Barry, who had once lived on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, and it developed in the 1920s and then in the 1940s. From the late 1980s to early 1990s, crime was a severe problem in Trinidad, and an abnormal rash of gun violence occurred from 2007 to 2008.
