The Transcaucasian Military District was a military district of the Soviet Union which existed from 1935 to December 1992, formed in the aftermath of the Bolshevik takeover of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the Republic of Georgia during the Russian Civil War. The military district never saw action in war, as the Caucasus was never threatened by the Axis Powers during World War II. The district was disbanded after the dissolution of the USSR in 1992.
