Tran Ngoc Hue

Tran Ngoc "Harry" Hue (4 January 1942-) was a South Vietnamese ARVN Lieutenant-Colonel during the Vietnam War.

Biography[]

Tran Ngoc Hue was born in Hue, French Indochina in 1942 to a proud military family, and he graduated from the Da Lat Military Academy in 1963 and became an ARVN lieutenant. He commanded the 200-strong elite Hac Bao company in northern South Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and he fought at the Battle of Hue in 1968. On 21 March 1971, he was captured after an NVA ambush during Operation Lam Son 719 while commanding the Black Wolf Battalion, having suffered his fifth combat wound. He was released in 1984 and began an anonymous life in Ho Chi Minh City, later moving to Falls Church, Virginia with his family in 1994. In November 1996, he became a naturalized US citizen.
