Biography[]

Touch the Clouds was born in 1838, the son of the Lakota Sioux chief Lone Horn. He became the head of his tribe's warrior society due to his martial skills, and in 1875 he became the chief of the Lakota after his father's death, leading the Lakota during the Great Sioux War. Touch the Clouds attempted to flee his reservation, but in 1877 he was forced to surrender to General George Crook, and Touch the Clouds' relations with the US Army soured when his cousin Crazy Horse was bayonetted to death at Fort Robinson; Touch the Clouds was present as Crazy Horse died in his bed.
