Sengoku in 2006

Toranosuke Sengoku was born in Osaka, Japan in 1962, and he became involved with the Omi Alliance yakuza organization. The greedy Sengoku rose in the ranks and became patriarch of the Sengoku-gumi; while he was not well-liked by his colleagues due to his brash and boastful behavior, he acquired a fortune and bought Osaka Castle for himself, hiring men dressed as ninjas and samurai to serve as guards at his castle headquarters.

In December 2006, Sengoku backed Ryuji Goda's takeover of the Omi Alliance, as he was staunchly opposed to Chairman Jin Goda's willingness to form an alliance with the Tojo-kai in the aftermath of Chairman Yukio Terada's assassination. During the alliance talks between Jin Goda and the Tojo-kai delegates Kazuma Kiryu and Daigo Dojima, Sengoku walked out on the meeting, but not before he insulted the Tojo-kai yakuza by offering them a loan to pay for the incense at Goda's funeral. After Ryuji's takeover of the Omi Alliance, Sengoku sought to claim Kiryu's head himself, first putting out a bounty on him which Terao Esaki failed to claim, and later arranging for an army to be sent into Kabukicho, Tokyo to destroy the Tojo-kai, only for Goro Majima to single-handedly thwart this attack. Resorting to extreme measures, Sengoku had his men kidnap Kiryu's ward Haruka Sawamura from the Sunflower Orphanage and take her to Osaka Castle, luring Kiryu into a trap. However, Kiryu fought through Sengoku's ninjas, samurai, and tigers before taking down Sengoku in a one-on-one fight. Kiryu rescued Sawamura and escaped Osaka with her; Goda arrived shortly after and, disgusted that Sengoku put a child in danger, personally executed Sengoku.
