Tony Rosato

Tony Rosato (1914-1959) was a Corleone crime family soldato. In 1959, Tony and his brother Carmine Rosato rebelled against the Corleones after their caporegime Frank Pentangeli welched on his predecessor Peter Clemenza's promise to grant them three territories in The Bronx, but they were both killed during a mob war with Dominic Corleone in 1959.

Biography[]

Tony Rosato was born in The Bronx section of New York City, New York in 1914, the older brother of Carmine Rosato. The two brothers entered the criminal underworld as associates of Giuseppe Mariposa's family, and they were placed in Peter Clemenza's regime of the Corleone crime family after Mariposa was killed during a war with Vito Corleone in 1934. Their boss Clemenza promised them three territories in The Bronx upon his death, but Clemenza's successor Frank Pentangeli welched on this agreement following Clemenza's death in 1958. This led to the Rosato brothers rebelling against the Corleones, taking hostages and forming their own rogue crews. In early 1959, Tony Rosato took over parts of Miami, taking over the Corleone's construction rackets in Florida. When his rackets were taken over by Dominic Corleone, his Astoria, Queens compound was assaulted by Dominic and his crew, and Tony Rosato was killed in the ensuing assault.
