Tony Evers

Tony Evers (5 November 1951-) was Governor of Wisconsin (D) from 7 January 2019, succeeding Scott Walker.

Biography[]

Tony Evers was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin in 1951, and he worked as a teacher before becoming a high school principal and then a superintendent. He served as the Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2009 to 2019, and, in 2018, he became the Democratic nominee for governor. He defeated Republican incumbent Scott Walker with 49.6% of the vote to Walker's 48.4%.
