Derazio after falling to his death

In 1968, Lincoln Clay hunted down his racket bosses and broke up his sources of income, seeking to weaken the family by taking Derazio down. Derazio's bar was wired by CIA agent John Donovan, an ally of Clay, and Clay discovered the elevator code of The Royal Hotel, where Derazio was staying. Derazio surrounded himself with armed guards, but Clay succeeded in shooting his way to Derazio's room. Derazio shot a rocket at Clay using a rocket launcher, destroying the hal lin front of his office, but Clay shot him several times. Derazio told him that he would be replaced by another bookkeeper the day after his death with nobody noticing, but Clay told him that everyone would notice; he threw him out of the office window, and he fell several floors. His body smashed through the glass roof at the hotel entrance and landed on a car, startling everyone in the area. Clay shot his way out of the hotel, escaping the scene.
