Tommaso "Tommy" Gagliano (29 May 1883 – 16 February 1951) was boss of the Lucchese crime family from 1931 to 1951, succeeding Joseph Pinzolo and preceding Tommy Lucchese.
Biography[]
Tommaso Gagliano was born on 29 May 1883 in Corleone, Sicily, and he moved to the Bronx neighborhood of New York City in the United States with his family. He became Gaetano Reina's underboss, and Gagliano and his friend Tommy Lucchese decided to profess their loyalty to Salvatore Maranzano as the Castellammarese War took a turn for the worse. The two of them murdered Joseph Pinzolo in 1931, and Gagliano took over the Lucchese crime family as a Maranzano ally. Gagliano kept the dealings of his gang on the down-low as Lucky Luciano and other gang leaders were arrested, and Gagliano remained boss until his death in 1951.
