Tom Pinkerton was a Scottish-American posseman who lived in Arkansas during the Wild West era.
Biography[]
Tom Pinkerton was born in Scotland, and he later emigrated to the United States and settled in Arkansas. In 1875, Deputy US Marshal Jim Bruce deputized Pinkerton, Ned Boyd, Gerrard McCoy, Isaiah Roland, and Gawen McCord to hunt down the wanted outlaw Bob Dozier, but Pinkerton quit the mission, as he warned Bruce that they would need more men to take down Dozier. All of the other posse members were killed, and Pinkerton decided to try his luck in Kansas with Black settlers. Their convoy was ambushed by white supremacists, but they were rescued by Bass Reeves and Charlie Storm, who enlisted Pinkerton's help in taking down Dozier. Pinkerton's arm was blown off by dynamite when Dozier attacked the posse at Muskogee, Oklahoma, but he and Reeves aided Storm in taking down Dozier and the rest of his gang at Spanish Fort, Texas before returning to Fort Smith, Arkansas in triumph.
