Tom Gaffney (died 1929) was an Irish-American gangster and the boss of the North Side Gang from 1924 to 1929, succeeding O'Hara. After Chicago Outfit street boss Tony Camonte assassinated O'Hara at his North Side flower shop, Gaffney took advantage of lax gun control laws to import Thompson submachine guns across state lines, gearing up for a bloody gang war with the Italians of the South Side. Over the next several years, both sides traded assassinations until Camonte himself gunned down Gaffney at a bowling alley.
