TMPD

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) is the prefectural police department of the Tokyo metropolis region of Japan. On 16 April 1868, the Governor's Office of Tosei University sent troops from the Satsuma Domain and eleven other domains to enforce law and order in Edo; these troops were named the Fubing, and, on 23 October 1871, the Fubing system was abolished. On 15 January 1874, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was established under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. By 2019, the TMPD employed more than 40,000 police officers and 2,800 civilian personnel in 102 stations in the prefecture.
