Tobin Gibson

Tobin Gibson (born 1849) was an Australian fur trader and explorer. In 1886, he and Richard Whitewater joined Daniel Pry's expedition into the heartland of Tasmania, founding several settlements along the way. Gibson himself became the namesake of Gibson Post, a small village in the dense forest of Tasmania which served as a militia outpost and logging camp. Gibson and Whitewater went on to take part in the destruction of an Aboriginal village further south, protecting their settlements from a potential threat.
