Titushky

The Titushky were hired thugs who were employed by the Ukrainian police to violently suppress dissent during the 2013-2014 Euromaidan protests. Named for the mixed-martial artist Vadym Titushko, who was arrested on 18 May 2013 for attacking Channel Five journalists during an opposition rally, the Titushky consisted mostly of street hooligans and released criminals who took part in street beatings, carjackings, and kidnappings for $100 a day. They served as provocateurs and thugs for President Viktor Yanukovych's regime during the Euromaidan protests, and, on 25 May 2014, Titushky blocked a polling station in Mykolaiv during that year's presidential election.
