Titus Flavius Sabinus (consul 69 AD)

Titus Flavius Sabinus was Consul of the Roman Empire in 69 AD and Suffect Consul in 72 AD.

Biography[]

Titus Flavius Sabinus was the son of Titus Flavius Sabinus, Consul of the Roman Empire in 47 AD, the brother of Gnaeus Arulenus Caelius Sabinus, and the nephew of the future Roman emperor Vespasian. By 64, he was Praetorian Prefect of Raetia, lording over Augusta Vindelicorum, Sigidun, and Iuvavum. In 69, he and his brother Gnaeus served as Consuls, and he served under Otho during the Year of the Four Emperors before surrendering to Vitellius after Otho's defeat and suicide. From 69 to 72, he served as Governor of Pannonia, and he returned to the consulship in 72 AD. His sons Titus Flavius Sabinus and Titus Flavius Clemens later served as consuls as well.
