
Tilghman Mayfield Tucker (5 February 1802-3 April 1859) was the Democratic Governor of Mississippi from 10 January 1842 to 10 January 1844 (succeeding Alexander McNutt and preceding Albert G. Brown) and a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MS AL) from 4 March 1843 to 4 March 1845 (preceding Jefferson Davis).
Biography[]
Tilghman Tucker was born in Lime Stone Springs, North Carolina in 1802, and he lived in Alabama for a time before blacksmithing and practicing law in Columbus, Mississippi. He served in the State House from 1831 to 1835, in the State Senate from 1838 to 1841, as Governor from 1842 to 1844, and in the US House of Representatives from 1843 to 1845. He died in 1859.
