Thyestes of Limnae (472 BC-428 BC) was a 5th-century BC Spartan politician from the village of Limnae, Laconia. In 428 BC, a private citizen blamed Thyestes for creating disorder in the agora and placed a bounty on him, and the mercenary Kassandra accepted the contract while in Sparta and found Thyestes in the agora of Limnae. There, she publicly swept him from his feet and stabbed him dead, assassinating him in broad daylight and fulfilling her contract.
