Three-Thumbed Odios (died 424 BC) was a Greek mercenary who was active during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography[]
Contrary to popular belief, Three-Thumbed Odios wasn't born with his third thumb. Rather, he lost the tip of his index finger in a bar fight, and thus his third thumb was made. He claimed he could wield a sword better that way.
In 424 BC, the Athenian demagogue Cleon sponsored a bounty on the mercenary Kassandra the Eagle Bearer, which Odios accepted. Odios tracked Kassandra down to the Demiurgi Fort in Elis, where Kassandra ambushed and killed him on the fort's battlements.
