Thoros III of Armenia (1271-23 July 1298) was King of Armenian Cilicia from 1293 to 1294, succeeding Hethum II and preceding Smbat IV.
Biography[]
Thoros was the son of King Leo III of Armenia and the younger brother of King Hethum II of Armenia. Hethum abdicated in Thoros' favor in 1293, but Thoros recalled Hethum to the throne in 1295, as Thoros sought for Hethum to renew the alliance with the Mongol Empire. They went on a diplomatic mission to Constantinople in 1294, only for their younger brother Smbat to usurp the throne, have Hethum blinded, and have Thoros strangled to death.
