
Thomas Jones Yorke (25 March 1801-4 April 1882) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-NJ AL) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1839 (succeeding William N. Shinn and preceding Peter Dumont Vroom) and from 4 March 1841 to 3 March 1843 (succeeding Vroom).
Biography[]
Thomas Jones Yorke was born in Lower Alloways Creek Township, Salem County, New Jersey in 1801, and he served in the US Army before becoming a merchant in Salem and county collector in 1830. He served as a common pleas judge from 1833 to 1834 and from 1845 to 1854 and in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1839 and from 1841 to 1843, and he was also involved with the railroad industry before his death.
