Thomas II of Saluzzo (1304-18 August 1357) was the Marquess of Saluzzo from 1336 to 18 August 1357, succeeding Frederick I of Saluzzo and preceding Frederick II of Saluzzo.
Biography[]
Thomas was born in 1304, the son of Frederick I of Saluzzo. His succession in 1336 was disputed by his uncle Manfred V of Saluzzo, and he supported the Ghibellines against his uncle, who was supported by Robert of Naples and the Guelphs. Thomas was forced to pay a ransom after his uncle captured and sacked Saluzzo, and in 1347 he allied with John II of Montferrat and Humbert II of Viennois in an attack on Savoy and the invasion of the House of Anjou's lands in northern Italy. In 1348, he became loyal to the Duchy of Milan in addition to Savoy, and he died in 1357.
