
Thomas Hickman Williams (20 January 1801 – 3 May 1851) was a US Senator from Mississippi (D) from 12 November 1838 to 4 March 1839, succeeding James F. Trotter and preceding John Henderson.
Biography[]
Thomas Hickman Williams was born in Williamson County, Tennessee in 1801, and he later settled in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, where he engaged in planting. He was appointed to the US Senate in 1838 to fill a vacancy, serving out the term for the next few months. Williams then went on to serve as secretary and treasurer of the University of Mississippi at Oxford from 1845 to 1851, when he died at Pontotoc.
