Thomas H. Moodie

Thomas Hilliard Moodie (26 May 1878-3 March 1948) was the Democratic Governor of North Dakota from 7 January to 2 February 1935, succeeding Ole H. Olson and preceding Walter Welford.

Biography[]

Thomas Hilliard Moodie was born in Winona, Minnesota in 1878, and he was raised in Wadena before working as a railroad brakeman and then as a cub reporter for the Bismarck Tribune in North Dakota. Moodie served as Governor of North Dakota for just a month in 1935, but he was impeached due to revelations that he had not officially been a resident of the state for the mandatory five years. He went on to serve as a Works Progress Administrator from 1935 to 1943, and he died in Spokane, Washington in 1948.
