
Thomas Hord Herndon (1 July 1828-28 March 1883) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-AL 1) from 4 March 1879 to 28 March 1883, interrupting James T. Jones' terms.
Biography[]
Thomas Hord Herndon was born in Erie, Alabama in 1828, and he practiced law in Eutaw before moving to Mobile in 1853. He served in the state house, as a member of the 1861 state secession convention, as colonel of the 36th Alabama Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War, and in the US House of Representatives from 1879 to 1883. He died in office.
