
Thomas Hamlet Averett (10 July 1800-30 June 1855) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-VA 3) from 4 March 1849 to 3 March 1853, succeeding Thomas Flournoy and preceding John Caskie. Born in Halifax, he served as a drummer boy during the War of 1812 before practicing medicine. He served in the state senate from 1848 to 1849 and in Congress.
