
Thomas Goodwin Turner (24 October 1810-3 January 1875) was the Republican Governor of Rhode Island from 31 May 1859 to 29 May 1860, succeeding Elisha Dyer and preceding William Sprague IV.
Biography[]
Thomas Goodwin Turner was born in Warren, Rhode Island in 1810, and he cofounded a dry goods and tailoring business in Newport. He served in the state militia during the Dorr Rebellion, as a trustee of Brown University, as Lieutenant Governor from 1857 to 1859, as Governor from 1859 to 1860, as a revenue collector, and as an insurance company president. He died in 1875.
