
Thomas Bragg (9 November 1810-21 January 1872) was Governor of North Carolina (D) from 1 January 1855 to 1 January 1859 (succeeding Warren Winslow and preceding John Willis Ellis) and a US Senator from 4 March 1859 to 8 March 1861 (succeeding David Settle Reid and preceding Joseph Carter Abbott).
Biography[]
Thomas Bragg was born in Warrenton, North Carolina in 1810, and he became a lawyer in 1833. From 1842 to 1843, he served in the North Carolina General Assembly, and he went on to serve as Governor from 1855 to 1859 and as a US Senator from 1859 to 1861. From 1861 to 1862, he served as the Confederate Attorney General, and he died in 1872.
