Theresa Ferrara

Theresa Ferrara (5 September 1951 – 10 February 1979) was the mistress of Lucchese crime family associate Tommy DeVito and an FBI informant. The two of them were murdered in the aftermath of the Lufthansa heist.

Biography[]

Theresa Ferrara was born in South Ozone Park, Queens, New York City on 5 September 1951, and she moved from her home on Long Island to Ozone Park to pursue a career as a fashion model or actress. Instead, she became the mistress of Lucchese crime family associate Thomas DeVito, and she sold cocaine and quaaludes, becoming involved with organized crime. In 1977, she was arrested by the DEA for selling drugs, and she decided to work with the FBI as an informant. In 1978, Ferrara planned to swindle the Mafia out of $250,000 worth of cocaine from Florida, and she stole a fair portion of money during the Lufthansa heist. Paul Cicero became suspicious of her after she helped the FBI with busting a cocaine deal on the Flushing, Queens waterfront, and it also did not help that Ferrara knew about the heist at a time when Jimmy Conway was eliminating many of the participants in that robbery. On 10 February 1979, she was called to a meeting at a diner, thinking that she had a chance to make $10,000. On 18 May 1979, her dismembered torso was found floating in Barnegat Inlet, near Toms River, New Jersey, and she was identified by her breast implants.
