Theras was a resident of the island of Seriphos and a friend of Phidias during the 5th century BC.
Biography[]
Theras was born on Seriphos in the Cyclades archipelago of Greece, and he befriended the artist Phidias. In 431 BC, Phidias informed Theras of a plot against his life by the Cult of Kosmos, and Theras and his companions later intercepted a letter by Cult member Brison which implicated him in the plot on Phidias' life. The mercenary Kassandra later brought Phidias to Seriphos aboard the Adrestia, and Theras thanked her, also giving her information on Brison to help her in her hunt for the Cultists.
