The Old Vic

The Old Vic is a historic theater located on the corner of the Cut and Waterloo Road in Lambeth, London, England. The theater was established in 1818 as the Royal Coburg Theatre before being renamed to the Royal Victoria Theatre in 1833, rebuilt and reopened in 1871 as the Royal Victoria Palace, and formally renamed the Royal Victoria Hall in 1880 (by then, it was already nicknamed "the Old Vic"). The building was damaged by German Luftwaffe air raids in 1940 during the Blitz, but it became a Grade II listed building after its 1951 reopening.
