The Kid (1834-) was an American outlaw of the Wild West. He, like his idol Buster Scruggs, was a musical cowboy, playing a harmonica and singing about his triumphs. In 1873, he rode into Frenchman's Gulch and politely challenge Scruggs to a duel on account of his fame as a quick gunslinger, and, immediately after Scruggs declined to hold a count before the quickdraw, The Kid shot him through his hat, piercing through his forehead and killing him. As The Kid approached Buster’s body, he kicked dust at him as a sign of respect to his fallen opponent. He then rode west just as Buster had, and he had exploits and adventures similar to Buster's and acquired the same legendary status.
