Thayendaneaga (1724-1790) was the chief of the Iroquois Confederacy. He was uneducated, a naval enthusiast, a lackwit, and had an inappropriate use for fingers. His poor leadership skills were recompensed through an alliance with powerful Great Britain, who defended him during the Indian Wars of the 1780s and 1790s against the United States. He was succeeded by Thadodaho I.
