The Kingdom of Thailand, formerly known as Siam, is a country located in Southeast Asia. Thailand changed its name from "Siam" to Thailand in 1939, and the monarchy was centered around the capital of Bangkok. Thailand is ruled as a constitutional monarchy, but it is currently ruled by Prime Ministers elected by parliament. The country industrialized over the course of the late 20th century and became a wealthy country, as well as one of the most prominent Buddhist nations. In 2015, the nation had a population of 67,959,000 people, with 95% being Buddhist.
