Thabita Mitri

Thabita Mitri (died 20 March 2003) was an Iraqi woman who was killed while attempting to destroy a US Army tank on 20 March 2003 during the Iraq War.

Biography[]

Thaabita Mitri was born in Nasiriyah, Iraq to a Sunni Muslim family. She was involved in the insurgency against the United States upon their invasion of the country, and she acquired an RKG-3 anti-tank grenade with which she planned to destroy a US Army tank travelling through the streets of the city. Mitri sent her son Muhideen Bey with the grenade to blow up the tank, so the Navy SEALs sniper Chris Kyle was forced to shoot him. The mother then rushed to her son's corpse to pick up the anti-tank grenade and attack the American tank herself, and she threw it before she was also shot dead; the grenade landed in front of the tank and did not destroy it.
