The Texian Army was the army of the Republic of Texas from 1835 to 1845 during and after the Texas Revolution. The army was commanded by Sam Houston during the war for independence against Mexico, and the army had a strength of 3,700 troops during the revolution. The Texian Army fought against the Mexican Army during the revolution, and it fought against marauding bands of Mexican troops and Comanche warriors during the 1830s. In 1845, the Texian Army was incorporated into the US Army after the United States' annexation of Texas.
