Uno massaging Shinada

Uno massaging Tatsuo Shinada

Tetsuo Uno was born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, and he trained as a masseuse before becoming a massage therapist. He worked for the Nagoya Wyverns, following the team across Japan and frequenting several strip clubs along the way. Uno befriended Tatsuo Shinada, and, after Shinada was banned from baseball in 1997, Uno chanced upon Kanji Manabe's lost phone, resulting in the team suddenly firing him in order to prevent Uno from uncovering Manabe and the Nagoya-gumi's role in match-fixing.

Uno came to open the Uno Acupuncture Clinic in Nagoya's Sakae red-light district, and he loaned his old friend Shinada money despite Shinada's frequent inability to repay his creditors. In 2012, he helped Shinada with his investigation into the 1997 match-fixing scandal, directing him to his former teammate Manabe for answers. In retribution, the Nagoya-gumi sent henchmen to Uno's office, first to attempt a gas leak (thwarted by Shinada), and later to beat up Uno to warn him against helping Shinada any further.
