Tetsuo Nomoto

Tetsuo Nomoto (1930-1963) was a Japanese yakuza boss who was Patriarch of Nomoto Enterprises in Tokyo during the 1960s.

Biography[]

Tetsuo Nomoto was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1930, the brother of Hideo Nomoto. The Nomoto brothers had a troubled childhood, with their mother becoming a prostitute after World War II who was known for "specializing in Black men"; Tetsuo was known for his sadistic and misogynistic tendencies, while Hideo, who was gay, entered into a violent rage whenever someone insulted his mother. Nomoto went on to become the patriarch of Nomoto Enterprises, a yakuza family which dealt in drug trafficking and prostitution in collaboration with Yosuke Ishiyama. Nomoto became one of Tokyo's most powerful yakuza bosses, having six mistresses. In 1963, his secret sixth mistress, Kumiko Takeshita, murdered her husband, TMPD detective Koichi Takeshita, after he discovered Nomoto and Kumiko's prostitution business, and Nomoto buried his body. Takeshita's former partner Joji Mizuno, who was fresh out of prison for embezzlement, decided to infiltrate Nomoto Enterprises to have his vengeance against his partner's killers. His relationship with Nomoto was mixed: he won Nomoto's trust by helping him force a Nomoto-associated business to stop paying the rival Sanko-gumi gang and return to paying Nomoto Enterprises, only for Mizuno to gradually lose Nomoto's trust after he was caught interrogating Hideo about his business partner (only to evade execution after revealing that Tetsuo's mistress Keiko Hoshi had put him up to it, leading to Nomoto whipping Hoshi to death), after one of Ishiyama's men recognized Mizuno as a former policeman (with Nomoto torturing Mizuno until he revealed that he had been imprisoned for corruption, seemingly proving that he was also a criminal), and, finally, when Kumiko - based on a conversation she had with Mizuno, who was unaware of her guilt in her husband's death - revealed that Mizuno had only joined Nomoto Enterprises to avenge his old friend, and that he was also plotting with the Sanko-gumi to destroy Nomoto Enterprises.

Goro Minami killing Nomoto

Nomoto had Mizuno tied to the ceiling of his mansion as he and his men prepared for a final battle with the Sanko-gumi, but the defeated Sanko-gumi boss Shinzuke Onodera crashed his car into Nomoto's mansion in a suicide bombing, enabling Mizuno to escape and to trap Nomoto against his staircase. He interrogated Nomoto about his friend's murder, shooting off three of his fingers, until Nomoto confessed that Kumiko was his sixth mistress. Mizuno intended to spare Nomoto as he had promised him during the questioning, but Nomoto attempted to tackle Mizuno as he headed up the staircase. Just then, Mizuno's friend Goro Minami shot Nomoto three times, saving Mizuno's life before dying of his own gunshot wounds from earlier that day.
