Tennessee is a state in the American South, with the Appalachian Mountains forming the eastern border and the Mississippi River forming the western border. The state was originally a territory of North Carolina during the 1770s, and on 1 June 1796 it would be admitted to the union as the 16th state. The state is often known as "the Bluegrass State", and its industries include agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism, with poultry, soybeans, and cattle being the main agricultural products.
