Telephos of Orchomenus was a 5th-century BC Boeotian Greek philosopher from the Ancient Greek city of Orchomenus. In 427 BC, disgusted by the violence and tyranny of the Athenian commander at the military fort of Gla near his home city, Telephos attempted to hire the mercenary Kassandra to assassinate him. However, Kassandra revealed that she had already done so, and Telephos gratefully paid her a full reward for her inadvertently-completed job.
