TNSM

Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) is a Pakistani Islamist militant group that was founded in 1992 by Sufi Muhammad. The TNSM was founded with the goal of enforcing sharia law in the country, and in 2002 President Pervez Musharraf banned the group due to its extremist ideology. Active in Dir, Swat, and Malakand on the border with Afghanistan, the TNSM supported the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in Pakistan. In 2001, Muhammad sent thousands of volunteers to fight against the US invasion of Afghanistan, leading to his arrest and the group's ban. The TNSM was regarded as one of the most dangerous religious extremist groups in Pakistan, and its leader Maulana Fazlullah would become TTP emir in 2013 as well.
