
Ted W. Lieu (born 29 March 1969) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-CA 33) from 3 January 2015, succeeding Henry Waxman.
Biography[]
Ted W. Lieu was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1969, and he moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio when he was young. He worked as a law clerk and as a colonel in the US Air Force reserve, serving as a military prosecutor and an adviser to commanders. After serving as a Torrance City Councilman in California, he was elected to the State Assembly in 2005, serving until 2010. From 2011 to 2014, he served in the State Senate, and he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2014 as a Democratic Party member. He notably opposed the US-Saudi Arabia alliance and sexual orientation conversion therapy.
