Tamemune Honda (1911-15 September 1944) was a Major of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. Honda was killed in action in the Battle of Peleliu.
Biography[]
Tamemune Honda was born in 1911 in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan, and he enlisted in the Imperial Japanese Army in 1933. He fought in the Republic of China during the conquest of Manchuria and the Second Sino-Japanese War, and in the 1940s he fought in World War II. Stationed on Peleliu in 1944, he served as the Major of a unit of IJA troops stationed on the island, and he was killed in melee combat with US Marine Corps troops in a tunnel beneath a machine-gun bunker on White Beach.
