Takeshi Takashina (25 January 1891 – 28 July 1944) was a Lieutenant-General of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. He was the commander of Japan's garrison on Guam until the Battle of Guam in 1944, during which he was killed in action.
Biography[]
Takeshi Takashina was born on 25 January 1891 in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy in December 1913, and he graduated from the Army Staff College in November 1922 before holding several commands at home in Japan. In October 1943, he gained a promotion to Lieutenant-General, and he took over the IJA 29th Division when it was sent from training in Manchukuo to the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. He fought against the United States when they invaded the island in 1944 during World War II, and Takashina was killed in action while overseeing the retreat from Fonte Hill.
