Kido in 2010

Takeshi Kido was born in Tokyo, Japan, and he worked as low-level muscle for the Kanemura Enterprises subsidiary of the Tojo-kai yakuza clan's Shibata-gumi during the 2000s. Kido worked under boss Hiroshi Kanemura and captain Hiroaki Arai, while also befriending the moneylender Shun Akiyama after Kanemura Enterprises received a loan from Akiyama (who sought to bankroll Arai's rise to power). It was during a visit to Kido that Akiyama learned about the Uenoseiwa-kai's transgression on Tojo Clan turf on 1 March 2010, thus involving himself in Arai's fight with the Ueno Seiwa and Arai's ensuing shooting of Masaru Ihara. Not long after, Kanemura turned up murdered, and Kido was suspected of involvement with this murder, causing Kazuo Shibata to send men after Kido. Kido and Akiyama formed an alliance, taking refuge at the Sky Finance office or in an underground lair under Theater Square.

On 4 March, Akiyama gave Kido ¥15 million to help track down Arai before he could be harmed by the Ueno Seiwa or the Tojo, who wanted to hand him over to the Ueno Seiwa as a peace offering. That same day, while Akiyama and his secretary Hana Hirano were away, Kido discovered Akiyama's secret vault containing ¥300 billion. To cover his tracks, he allowed himself to be kidnapped by the Hatsushiba-kai when they came to the Sky Finance office to steal Akiyama's debtor register, but he was later rescued by Akiyama.

On 6 March, Kido was jumped by 7 Shibata men searching for Arai, but he bested all of them. Not long after, Taiga Saejima arrived, as the fight occurred atop his former apartment building, and, on hearing of Kido's rivalry with the Shibata, he took an interest in Kido and persuaded him to help him in investigating the Shibata Family's betrayal of the Sasai-gumi in 1985. Kido was astonished that a legend would want his help, and he dolt him about the Florist of Sai. On 7 March, Kido helped Saejima stealthily make his way to the Millennium Tower to meet Goro Majima without attracting the police, but, before Saejima left, Kido asked Saejima if he regretted his fateful past. Saejima said that yakuza only got one shot, and that honor and duty was everything. After Saejima left, a newly inspired Kido decided to establish contact with Daigo Dojima on 10 March and betray Sky Finance's ¥100 billion to the Tojo Clan. Daigo then revealed Arai's collusion with TMPD deputy commissioner Seishiro Munakata, giving Kido an idea that would secure Sky Finance's money for Daigo's sake and eliminate Isao Katsuragi. He contacted Arai and planned to obtain the money through pretending to work for Katsuragi and betraying him at an opportune moment.

Katsuragi and Kido

On 13 March, Kido secured Sky Finance's money through false district attorneys, and he later informed Katsuragi of the theft at Purgatory before capturing Taiga and his sister Yasuko Saejima and bringing them to Kabukicho Hills to usher a deal with Kazuma Kiryu, who would trade the siblings and the money for an incriminating ledger. After the exchange, Kido shot Katsuragi and handed over the money and ledger to him, only for Arai to shoot Kido, leaving him alive to see if he would return to Daigo. Sure enough, Kido followed Daigo to the Millennium Tower on 15 March after Sky Finance's money had been placed there by Akiyama to set a trap. Arai pieced together Kido and Daigo's collusion and revealed himself to be an undercover policeman, much to Kido's dismay. Not long after, Kiryu, Saejima, Akiyama, and Masayoshi Tanimura arrived to deal with their enemies, with Saejima battling Kido, who was honored to fight him. Kido's defeat and the unraveling of Arai, Munakata, and Daigo's separate plots left Kido confined to life as a low-level hoodlum with an uncertain future.
