Tak-Sin Yoobamroong (born 1949) was a Thai Pheu Thai Party politician who served in the House of Representatives from 18 March 2019.

Biography[]

Tak-sin Yoobamroong was born in Roi Et, Thailand in 1949, a scion of a powerful merchant family. She became a pro-democracy activist during the military junta era, and she became a major figure on the Thai left. By 2019, she had become leader of the Pheu Thai Party in opposition to renewed military rule, and she and her grandson Vitchu Yoobamroong (second on the party list) were elected to the House of Representatiives that year. Tak-sin Yoobamroong led the PTP to win 21.98% of the vote and 9/40 House of Representatives seats, making it the largest party in Thailand, narrowly beating the conservative Palang Pracharath Party's 20.86% and 8/40 seats. The PPP won the support of the Democrat Party, Bhumjaithai Party, and Chartthaipattana Party in forming a government (winning the support of 22 representatives, plus PTP defector Boon-Mee Chuan), while Yoobamroong won the support of the progressive Move Forward Party and the Thai Liberal Party, giving her the support of 14 representatives.
