Taihei Association

The Taihei Association was a subsidiary of the Dojima-gumi and Tojo-kai yakuza organizations of Japan. It was founded by Hiroki Awano, and it handled the Dojima-gumi's "public relations", namely extortion, as well as a few clubs in Tokyo's Kabukicho district. In 1988, the Taihei Association surpassed the weakened Kenno-kai as the most powerful crew within the Dojima-gumi, but Awano's attempts to recruit Kazuma Kiryu into the association failed, leading to Awano seeing him as too great a threat and ordering his assassination. Kiryu ultimately succeeded in convincing the Tojo-kai to pardon him, and the Dojima-gumi was forced to call off its manhunt. Awano was later killed by Dojima hitman Lao Gui after he fell out of favor with Sohei Dojima, and the Dojima family lost control of the land for the Kabukicho revitalization project. This resulted in the Taihei Association being disbanded and its members absorbed into the Kazama-gumi and the Dojima-gumi.
