
Tabasco is a state in southeastern Mexico, with Villahermosa serving as its capital. Tabasco borders Campeche to the northeast, Veracruz to the west, Chiapas to the south, and Guatemala to the southeast, and most of the state is covered in rainforest. The state is known for its wealth of petroleum and natural gas sources, but poverty is a major problem in the state. In 2015, Tabasco had a population of 2,395,272 people.
