
The Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) was a separatist group from Shan State, Burma that was formed in January 1992 to liberate Shan from Burmese rule and create an independent state. The TNLA carried out operations against opium labs, poppy fields, heroin refineries, and meth labs, and the TNLA waged war against the Burmese Tatmadaw military in the jungles. In 2016, they had up to 3,500 fighters.
