The Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) was a Syrian nationalist and populist political party operating in the Levant. It advocated the creation of a Greater Syria nation-state spanning the Fertile Crescent, and it was secular, seeking to establish a state that would include both Muslims and Christians. It was founded in 1932 in Lebanon by Antoun Saadeh, and it became a major nationalist party in the Levant, being involved in coups and assassinations. They were responsible for President of Lebanon Bachir Gemayel's assassination in 1982, and the SSNP's paramilitary forces would fight in the Lebanese Civil War and the Syrian Civil War. The SSNP allied with the Syrian Ba'ath Party due to their aligning interests on the topic of Syrian nationalism, and its fighters supported the government during the civil war.
